Happy Holly-ween!

I can't believe Halloween week is already here! We have already had fun dressed as Carrie Brad-paw (which is our plan for festivities on the day itself, weather permitting) at the Halloween Howl a couple weekends ago, but for this past weekend's festivities at Petco, we decided to mix things up. After all, a girl doesn't want to go to two parties in the same costume, right?

One of the comments we got at our first Holly-ween event was how the tutus lent themselves perfectly to another screen icon besides Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie. Little did they know, this very character is not only Holly's namesake, but someone we have experience emulating already:

That's right...no fewer than five people asked: "hey, have you ever considered dressing up as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's?"

So, in the interest of giving the public what they want (and since we already had the costume), we decided to spend another Barkfest at Sniffany's for Petco's Halloween costume contest on Saturday. We placed fourth at the event (after a pair of costumed chickens!!), and had a great afternoon hanging with local pup pals and celebrating the season.
On me: skirt: Space46Boutique, shirt: Threads For Thought, earrings: Chanel (similar), tiara: Vintage, Pearls: Nordstrom
On Holly: skirt: EllieGraceCrafts, Sweater: Smoochie Pooch (old), collar: J&B Custom Leather
I've really found a lot of ways to wear my tutu from Space46Boutique this season! I can see it becoming a favorite piece in my wardrobe, especially with Holly's tutu from EllieGraceCrafts matching so perfectly!

Until Next Time, Darlings! Happy Holly-ween!

Weekend Wander: @Maisondepawz Birthday Bash & Halloween Howl!

We were honored to be invited to the birthday celebration of one of our dearest IG Friends, @Maisondepawz. As the maker of handcrafted human grade dog treats, we knew the food would be amazing, and looking at the roster of guests it was sure to be a good time!

With pooches from Hazel Bear to Simba to Chloe Kardoggian in attendance, we knew the perfect present was a must! Before heading to the park for the party, Holly and I made a pit stop at swanky dog boutique Canine Styles to pick out a gift. We settled on a "Please Return to Sniffany & Co." plush bone  in Tiffany blue, which Holly loved until she discovered she didn't get to keep it.
"What do you mean, this toy isn't for me???"
We arrived at Sheep Meadow in Central Park (actually, just outside, since dogs aren't allowed in the meadow and it follows that neither are dog birthday parties) and met up immediately with Hazel and her dad Eric. Hazel and Holly sniffed out the rest of the party, where Tyler's mom had a layout that not only included her yummy homemade treats, but also pupcakes from Sprinkle's bakery and an array of meats, cheeses, and bread for the humans to nosh on (Holly might have helped herself to a bit from that tray as well). Chloe Kardoggian and Simba were already there, and the group was ready to party!
The birthday boy looked dapper in his bowtie
Clockwise from top left: Hazel, Simba, Holly and Chloe!
We loved spending the afternoon snacking, snapping photos, and chatting with some of our Insta-friends. #Tylersbig8 was a smashing success, and we got to take home some delish treats as a favor!
Post party smooches. Tops: Ralph Lauren. Jeans: Grace in LA (similar). Bag: Hermes (love this one).
Next up we were off to the Carl Schurz Park "Halloween Howl," an annual event benefitting the Park Conservancy that has a costume contest and "Healthy Dog Fair" with samples of treats, toys, and information from local pet businesses.
Almost time for Holly-ween! Better hurry up this walk!
Holly and I attended last year, and even though we loved our poodle skirts, we knew we had to step up our game to compete this year! We asked all of you to help us choose our costume, and the winner was:

Paw-sitively Fabulous: Henri Bendel x The College Prepster HB Puppy Love Event

It's no secret to anyone that Holly and I love Henri Bendel (particularly her resemblance to their own illustrated pooch), and we were thrilled last season to discover all of their luxury dog offerings, including bowls and squeaky toys, particularly wonderful since Holly, as a rescue, doesn't always fit the luxury offerings for purebred small dogs, like collars and tote bags (she's more of a mid-sized sedan, or as a woman we met shopping said the other day "the biggest Chihuahua I have ever seen!).

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise either that as avid watchers of Gossip Girl, fans of matching monogrammed Ralph Lauren polos, and suckers for anything with an equestrian flair (ok, this last trait might just be me), that we would also likely fall into the category of "Preppy," in all its boat shoe wearing, headband worshipping glory. So when I discovered the blog The College Prepster, featuring the tales of preppy Carly and her pampered pooch Teddy, I was obviously hooked.

Imagine my delight when I discovered that Carly would be hosting an event with Teddy at the Henri Bendel flagship to show off the store's latest and greatest in pooch products. Holly and I donned our matching cable knit sweaters, grabbed our fellow blogging buddies Mariel and Michelle, and headed to 57th and 5th for an evening of "sips and shopping" with the dynamic duo.

One Year with LHBW

Good morning, Darlings!

Today marks one year to the day of the inaugural post of Little Holly's Big World.

I am amazed at how much love and support we have received in the past year, and at the number of new friends Holly & I have met throughout this process. I am even more amazed by all the entrepreneurs, rescue advocates, and passionate members of the pet industry I have had the pleasure of speaking with throughout the year.

At the end of the day, this is really just the story of a girl and her little dog living the life in New York City (frequently in matching outfits). But if you take anything away from our adventures, I hope it's that your own best friend might be at the shelter right now waiting for you to rescue them.

Until Next Time, Darlings!

Paw-sitively Fabulous: Falling for Fall

It's no secret that we at LHBW Headquarters LOVE matching outfits. Over the Summer, we really stepped up our matching game to the point that it became our signature at local pup events. Below is a look back at some of our most favorite #adventuresinmatchingoutfits:

Pretty in polka dots at the Lowe's Loves Pets National Dog Day event.
Orange You Glad we went to BarkBox's first ever pup friendly film festival?
Pure joy in another Ralph Lauren polo set, which we later donned at Broadway Barks.
Now that cooler weather is finally here, I'm so excited to step up our matching game for my very favorite season, Fall. Of course, because it's my favorite season, I couldn't help but begin to curate an extra special collection of matching ensembles to debut in the next few weeks. That said, I thought I would give you all a special sneak peek of some of the outfits we'll be sporting this season!

Little Holly's Big Book Club: Very Bad Blogger

Alright, my lovely friends, I have a confession: I didn't finish this month's book selection.

In my defense, September just sort of slipped past this year, didn't it? I found myself reading #GIRLBOSS, then Joan River's last book (I am still stunned by her tragic passing), then celebrating my birthday, then re-watching The Good Wife on Amazon Prime, and, long story short, suddenly it's October 1st and I have not read Travels With Charley!

So, to make it up to you, I have decided to extend the book club for one extra month! I sort of meant to include this title in the first place, but I thought including John Steinbeck would make me seem smart and thoughtful, so I left it off. I have been hearing a lot about this title in the months since, though, and I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to add it back to the list!
